Engage 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web and we intended to celebrate!
Inspired by internet holes, endless searching and the twists and turns these threads can take, we began experimenting with physical materials in a similar fashion to try and find the answer at the end of every path we followed.
Building a flexible system based on the font BC Liguria, we teamed up with 3D Designer Marcel Hita Baró to create a series of striking images and short animations which attempts to ‘brand the unbrandable’ and create an atmosphere for the 800+ delegates to be simultaneously educated, entertained, shocked and inspired about the industry’s ambitions for tomorrow.

We translated the graphic concept onto the stage by layering and twisting a custom printed cloth. Using bespoke free-standing structures to manipulate the material, we finally used the Barbican lighting to create a theatre-like atmosphere.
